3 weeks until lift off!

Well, three weeks and counting down! My classroom is coming together nicely, which is good because next week we have orientation with our new teachers. PLEASE PRAY - we still need teachers for fourth, fifth and jr high. We know that God will provide, but please keep us in your prayers.

The school is undergoing major construction changes right now. They built a giant librarian's desk, walled off the "back" walkway to the library (you'll have to enter through the door now), and are finishing a new teacher's lounge, which will have computers! They are building permanent secretaries desks and a new generator house (since we will be getting a new one this year - God willing). As well, almost everything that hasn't been painted recently is getting painted and it's all looking wonderful!

Keep praying!

Back in the DR!

Well, I've been back in the DR for about a week now. It's been really good. I've already gotten back to work. I have a big pile of stuff to return to the library/resource room. The last teacher has allowed me to do it. I don't mind though, because it gives me a chance to clean it to my standards. This is a before picture. I know you can't wait to see the after picture!

I have definatly experienced some culture shock coming back, but nothing too serious. Just the usual impatience and the incessant need to feel like I am always doing something. As each day goes by, God reminds me that things here are on a different pace and to remember to value each relationship and encounter during the day. Please pray! We still need a few teachers for junior high. God will provide, but prayer never hurts!

God is good!

My BBQ was awesome. It was so good to share with everyone what God has been doing in my life and at the school. It was amazing to see so many who support me and who are just as excited as I am about what God is doing! The food was good - I love cheeseburgers - and the dessert was even better - Hello apple pie! God has provided even more through generous donors and loved ones who are willing to sacrifice to follow God's call. They might not realize, but through their generosity and giving, they too are making disciples of all nations (Matt28:19).
Thank you to all who came, but especially to those who helped and served so the evening went off wonderfully. Karla & Dad, Mom, Beth & Luke Reid, Mark & Anne Montgomery and everyone who brought something to share - THANKS!

Happy 4th of July

I spent the day with my good friends Kristin and Katie. We went to the Feather River Canyon, where I was born and spent a good chunk of childhood. If nothing else, my best memories come from there. The picture above is the house I lived in when we moved back in 1992. It was wierd to go visit places I haven't seen in years. I was like I had repeatedly watched a movie with these places, not as if they were from my real life. We spent the day at the river and then we came back to Chico for a BBQ.

Well, gearing up for the BBQ on Friday and then I am heading back to the DR on Saturday. It's amazing how fast a month goes by. This trip has been great! God has really reminded me of his purpose for me in the DR and his unconditional love for me. Thanks to all of you are interested and have been in touch since I've been back.
