Three weeks to go!

I'm so crazy, I'm eating worms! (Though we did learn from Mario in Outdoor Education that worm hamburgers are very healthy!)

Well, life here is definatly in high gear until the end of the semester. There are so many projects and activities going on at the same time. Sometimes I wonder how God has enough energy to give each one of us. We will celebrate Thanksgiving on Friday with a dinner at my house (we have to work on Thursday since the DR doesn't celebrate Dia del Pavo - Turkey day). Saturday is a horse rally organized and hosted by our school (the jr highers idea!) with the proceeds going to Rehabilitation (Lion's Club). With three weeks left the staff needs all the prayers it can get. Please pray for health and strength to get everything done that needs to get done. As Dia del Pavo-Turkey day draws near, I long for my family and friends. Thanks to those who constantly keep me in thier thoughts and prayers! :)

Young Life English Camp

This last weekend I took four 9th grade girls - Sharlin, Michelle, Yelida and Carol - to Young Life camp. It was a great weekend full of fun times, deep conversations and true to Young Life style, lots of messyness. The program was two brothers trying to be "luchadors" or wrestlers and thier sister wanted to have her sweet 16 birthday party. The girls are still quoting the lines! Please continue to pray for these girls spiritual development and they would continue to better understand what it means to be in relationship with Jesus.

Outdoor Education

Last week was Outdoor Education for first through third grade. We had a fun-filled very intense week. We started our study of plants by visiting a near-by Ranch called Rancho Baiguate, where we learned how plants grow, how to care for them and, most importantly, how earth worms help in the whole thing. It was a great time. Then we spent two days on campus preparing and planting a garden. We planted radish, cilantro and beans. We will see what happens over the next few weeks! Thanks for all your prayersm; the week was generally calm.

October

I know it's been awhile since my last update. My life has been extremely crazy lately. I am on my feet teaching from 8 until 3 and then am left with all my other responsibilities. I do usually get a chance to relax on the weekends and this Monday we have our first holiday - Praise the Lord! Pray that I would be intentional about the way I use my time.

In second grade we have been doing some awesome experiements about germs (pictured) and learning more addition and subtraction in Math. We got a generous donation from Mrs. Albert and my dad of wonderful books(pictured). The kids are still reading them! The kids had to turn in thier first formal report in Spanish class and for the most part did a wonderful job. Daily the kids amaze me with thier desire to seek and glorify Jesus. Please pray for my patience and my energy. My group of kids have more energy by 3pm then when they begin the day. I am almost always exhausted, but God always gives me the strength and energy I need.

Next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday first through third grades have Outdoor Education Week. This year we will be making a garden. Please pray for the teachers as this is a stressful and crazy week. Pray that the kids would see the beauty of God's creation and the why of taking care of it.
